Åkersjöstrand Camping
All year round – for lovely days in the mountains!
Newly built, scenic mountain campsite for the summer and winter season by the beautiful beach of Lake Åkersjön. Large pitches with electricity and TV sockets, engine heaters, web-based electricity control, ultramodern service building and electronic cards for access to shower etc.
Åkersjöstrand Camping enjoys a scenic location by the beach between the lake and the mountains. The campsite is newly built and has an ultramodern service building with a washing-up room with a restaurant dishwasher, kitchen, laundry room and large shower areas with a lovely sauna! Forget about tokens and coins — here we use electronic cards to access the service building, showers, etc. For seasonal pitches, there is web-based electricity control that can be regulated from your home – never again will you have to arrive at a cold caravan!
On the site, we also have a fresh youth hostel, Strandpaviljongen, with modern self-catering, comfortable beds and TV in the room, wood-fired hot tub, etc. Our Hotell Fjällgården is within walking distance and has a restaurant and pub, a meeting place for campsite guests, anglers, hunters, hikers, skiers, snowmobile folk, cottage owners and conference guests from near and far. The hotel houses the campsite reception as well as a small pharmacy and kiosk, sells fishing permits, and hires out boats and snowmobiles. There is even a defibrillator! In the village, there is a service shop, fuel pump and a beautiful chapel.
See, Do & Experience!
The passion for the mountains and related experiences set the mood at our facilities. From here you can go straight into Jämtland’s wilderness, well-known fishing waters and magnificent mountains like Himmelsraften, Stuore Tjåure and the majestic 1266-m-high Makkene. The mighty peaks have stood here proudly from time immemorial, full of wisdom and power from the glittering northern lights and sunrises that have honoured them for aeons of time...
In the winter, the area is assured of snow, and the expression ‘the snow can be found in Åkersjön’ has been a slogan for many years. Right outside the door, there are miles upon miles of carefully prepared ski tracks and snowmobile trails that will take you out into nature to jigging, skiing and lovely coffee stops – a coffee never tastes as good as in a hole in the snow in the mountains by a roaring fire! There are many suggestions for excursions for one or more days, however you choose to travel. When you return, relaxation awaits in a sauna or hot tub, as well as good food and drink.
Our snowmobile hire has everything, including all the necessary equipment for a safe and exciting snowmobile experience whether you are a beginner or more advanced driver. Start right outside the door and go on your own or on a tour led by professional guides. We will adapt to suit your requirements.
In the summer, there are nice nature trails and footpaths to follow through changing nature types like forests stretching for miles, cultural landscape, bogs, mighty mountains above the tree line, roaring watercourses and crystal-clear lakes. There is a rich cultural heritage from the summer pasture farm life, which started back in the 18th century when the first settlers also arrived. To this day, we can follow in the footsteps of history along the old summer pasture routes to, among other places, Gammelbodarna.
Önrun has Sweden’s most extensive view at a height of 856 m stretching uninterruptedly up to 150 km in all directions, and as many as 36 named mountain peaks can be seen. Take the Blomsterleden Trail up the 1091 m high Blomsterfjället Ansätten. Every summer, guided herb and flower walks are arranged, including at Midsummer – a magical experience when you’ll find more than seven kinds of flowers to put under your pillow in the magical, light night. There are, in fact, as many as 383 registered flower species. But, the most impressive thing is not the large number of species but the enormous quantities of all the species that are found here, which means that you can look out over unbelievable seas of flower groupings.
Visit goats and kids at Sörbodarnas summer farm or ride an Iceland horse out into nature, which is filled with a profusion of flowers, and blueberries, cloudberries and chanterelles. Ansättån Canyon, a 9000-year-old rift formation with a footpath and footbridges around wild waterfalls and giant’s kettles, is an amazing experience. The nature reserves Oldflån-Ansätten and others are Natura 2000 protected and thereby among Europe’s most valuable areas with their strong wilderness character.
Spruce weighed down by snow, the splendid northern lights, crystal-clear lakes and magical summer nights when the sun never sets – in Åkersjön, every season has its charm!
