Camping holidays in Skåne
Skåne is located in the far south of Sweden. The billowing yellow canola fields that are often seen as a symbol of Skåne’s fertile landscape flower already in May. But the nature varies depending on where you are – from deciduous forests to green groves, from sheer coastal cliffs to white sandy beaches that stretch for miles, from lakes to sea – there is something here for everyone.
The fantastic nature is edged with castles, manor houses and charming small towns as well mediaeval churches and traces from the Viking Age. Skåne also has many national parks with nice footpaths, canoe routes and cycleways.
For fans of Henning Mankell’s books and films about Police Inspector Kurt Wallander, the charming small town of Ystad is a must. Guided tours in Wallander’s footsteps are arranged in the summer, and an information brochure is available at the tourist office if you would like to explore the land of Wallander on your own.
For golfers, there are many golf courses to choose from, and thanks to Skåne’s mild climate, many are open almost all the year round. If you love tennis, we recommend a visit to Bjärehalvön and the famous tennis town of Båstad. The annual ATP tournament Swedish Open is held here in July.
Malmö and a visit to the Western Harbour where you can see Turning Torso, Sweden’s tallest residential building, and Ankarparken, the green open space built as a sample map of different kinds of wild Swedish nature.
The enigmatic Ale’s Stones on the ridge above Kåseberga with magnificent views over the Baltic Sea, Sweden’s biggest preserved ship tumulus.
Glimmingehus in Österlen, Scandinavia’s best preserved mediaeval castle. The castle was built as a residence that would be easy to defend with 2.5 m thick walls, a moat and embrasures.
